6-Day Kashmir Shaivism Retreat in Thailand: From Cosmic Creation to Emotional Alchemy
Learn the foundations of Kashmir Shaivism—from the unfolding of cosmic creation through the 36 tattvas to emotional transformation through the 9 rasas.
Retreat Overview
This immersive 6-day Kashmir Shaivism retreat in Thailand offers a rare opportunity to study the core teachings of one of the most refined and optimistic paths of traditional Tantra.
You’ll explore:
- Part One: Cosmic Creation & the 36 Tattvas – learn how pure consciousness gradually unfolds into the physical universe—from the subtlest to the most tangible levels of existence.
- Part Two: Emotional Alchemy & the 9 Rasas – learn to recognize the essence of your emotions and be fully present with them—transforming reactivity into awareness.
- Bonus: Key teachings from the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra and the four Upayas, presented from both a Tantric and psychological perspective.
Through daily lectures, Hatha Yoga, meditation, and experiential exercises, you’ll discover how these teachings apply not only to the structure of reality—but also to your personal, emotional, and spiritual life.
Part One: Cosmic Creation and the 36 Tattvas
How did the One become Many? How did the formless become form?
Kashmir Shaivism answers these timeless questions through the 36 tattvas—subtle building blocks that describe how consciousness condenses into matter and creates the physical universe.
You’ll explore:
- The 5 pure tattvas: Shiva, Shakti, and the three fundamental forces—Iccha (will), Jnana (knowledge), and Kriya (action)
- How Maya creates the illusion of separation through 5 limiting veils (Kanchukas): time, space, power, knowledge, and joy
- The emergence of Purusha (the individual soul), the mind, ego, senses, and finally the five great elements: earth, water, fire, air, and ether
This is not abstract philosophy—it’s a spiritual blueprint of your own consciousness and a path to deep self-understanding.
Part Two: Emotional Alchemy and the 9 Rasas
In the second half of the retreat, we move from cosmic structure to personal experience—diving into the 9 rasas, or emotional essences.
Rooted in the Rig Veda, the word rasa means “essence”. Each rasa holds a core energetic flavor, which can give rise to a wide range of emotions. With awareness and practice, these energies can be amplified, purified, or transformed—a process known in Tantra as emotional alchemy.
You’ll explore:
Shringara (Love), Hasya (Joy), Adbhuta (Wonder), Shanta (Calm), Raudra (Anger), Veerya (Courage), Karuna (Sadness), Bhayanaka (Fear), Vibhatsa (Disgust)
You’ll learn how to bring awareness to these emotional energies, understand their deeper roots, and use them as tools for spiritual growth rather than sources of suffering.
