Getting Back to Your Purpose - Mahasiddha Yoga

Have you ever had a situation where you felt that you were finally making some steps towards your soulful purpose, and the next moment you found yourself being distracted by the least important thing? Or, even if what you are doing is meaningful, it is still misaligned with your bigger goal.

Do you want to know how to get back on track with your purpose? We will describe some helpful techniques for this situation in the following article.

Schedule and Do It

One of the ways to continuously carry out purposeful acts and practices rather than sliding from your core direction, is to fortify in your schedule time for essential things, for your essence. Check with yourself; “What is the most valuable action for my purpose right now? What is essential?”

Plan your time accordingly to have the space for it in your schedule, harmoniously. You don’t have to start with nine hours from tomorrow but have from half an hour to two hours to do what you consider the most essential action for your essence.

If you have resistance, ask yourself; “But what if I die? What if I die next week? What does the rest of it matter?” Have that substantial insight. Just do it without any compromise.

Bring Your Consciousness and Observe

The second approach is to bring consciousness and to act in an integrated way. Sometimes it is enough just to acknowledge what you are doing right now. The mind’s tendencies are all distractive and can only live in a half-conscious state.

When you are half asleep the ego takes over, switching the behavior to autopilot mode. When you are present, the ego doesn’t gain control that easily. It might resist you a little bit in the beginning.

When you consciously choose what will happen next, the ego no longer has actual power over you. You are the soul that you are, and you make the decisions inside of you, having the capacity to follow your purpose.

The Observation Method

The actual method in this case is to acknowledge what you are doing in this moment, noticing if you are distracting yourself with something meaningful but not necessarily integrated. Check with yourself; “Is this the most essential thing that I could be doing at this moment?”

Mark what you have acknowledged, and then check again in an hour. There is a certain sense that you feel in the heart. Something clicks when you are really in the spot of integration.

You may feel tired, but also there is a sense that it is the right time to do this meditation. Notice how it feels when it clicks and you are where you’re meant to be. Once you are clicking in, your inspiration is very high, your aspiration and purpose are high, and everything just fits perfectly.

It may be difficult to be in that moment, but it feels just so good to the soul, and in time, the soul gets thirsty for this, asking for more integrated moments.

Finding The Sweet Spot

Usually, we are a few millimeters off what we are supposed to be doing, or maybe a meter or two. But that’s about it.

You can learn throughout the day to check; “How far off my purpose am I?”. For example, on a scale from 1 to 10 in terms of purpose, you notice that right now you are on 5 or 6. That’s great.

But what would be the action that would be fully integrated and aligned with your purpose for 10 out of 10? Can you do it right now? If you can, just do it. Do not hesitate.
