What Can Nature Teach Women About Feminine Energy?

In this article, we find out how femininity can be awakened by discovering feminine qualities inherent to 5 elements. Nature is the expression of femininity par excellence; see how you can learn directly from it!

What Does It Mean To Be Feminine?

What does it mean to awaken our feminine energy as a woman in the world we live in today? There’s a lot of misunderstanding about it and also a lot of frustration in women who don’t want to be how society tells us to be. How we should dress or look, or what we should do to be more feminine.

Yet, there is something inside of us that does wish to truly be ourselves. Tantra comes with a very beautiful perspective on this. One that is nonconformist and not influenced by culture or society.

Tantra expresses the feminine as the energy of life, the power of creation, the visible expression of this manifestation. That might sound a bit vague or cosmic, but we can see how, for example, nature expresses itself through five elements – not very complex, quite simple, yet very complete.

We can see how nature manifests through the elements of earth, water, fire, air and ether. These five elements together make up this beautiful world that has such a variety of expressions.

The same is true inside of us: when we discover that these five elements are actually in our being, awakened or repressed to a certain degree, we can really discover how to awaken fully as women so that we can become as alive, diverse, and creative as life and nature itself. Next, we will highlight a few characteristics for each element.

Earth – Nourishment, Stability & Abundance

Let’s take the element of the earth: it provides a certain kind of stability and grounding. It gives an abundance that just grows and grows… new aspects can feed and be nourished. Women have this capacity, yet when we haven’t learned how to nourish the earth element inside of us, we can feel like: “I’m drained. I’m tired. I don’t have anything to give. I’m just giving and giving…”

We can balance this energy of earth inside of us by becoming very attentive to tend to our own inner nature. To take care of ourselves by always being in the state of abundance. We realise that we don’t give from our own pockets, but that we can become a channel of this abundance of the earth, which is always overflowing.

Water – Flow, Adaptability & Creativity

The nature of water is very flexible. It is a flow that can be characterised by the ability to be unstained by whatever happens. We can adapt to anything: there’s garbage coming into the river; sometimes the river has to flow around the rocks – it always finds its way around!

And this is again a very feminine quality. It gives us high adaptability. A truly awakened woman can always find a way to flow with whatever life throws at her, to be very creative, very spontaneous and adaptable… She always finds an inspiring way to flow with what life actually offers.

If we neglect the water element, we might become quite dry, stuck and rigid. We can have difficulty adapting when something doesn’t go the way we planned.

Fire – Confidence, Power & Transformation

Fire in nature can be seen as the power to rise, to alchemise, to transform. It is ready for something new, something better, something more evolved. Women can have this catalysing effect on the surroundings.

A woman’s presence can bring great transformation just through her being there. When the fire is really awakened inside of her, she sees life as a continuous playground of opportunities. Where can I grow? What around me can go to the next level?

She can instigate a continuous transformation that brings something new. But not just because of a need for variety, but because there’s a need for something better, higher, and more evolved.

If we lack inner fire, then we might speak with a low voice, and we might not be so confident to actually bring outside of us the treasures that we have inside. We might not express this feminine power that is naturally catalysing.

Air – Connection, Love & Communication

The element of air brings a connection that is between everything and makes communication possible. It bridges what seems to be separate into something that communicates and even unites.

It’s also the air, the breath that connects us to life itself. When our heart is truly awakened, this is usually a sign that the air element is really flowing inside of us. That we have the capacity to bring connection where it’s lacking, to really communicate, to bridge misunderstandings, to overcome conflicts. To bring a certain unity between communities, families, relationships. It’s our capacity to bring this kind of togetherness which the world is missing so much.

When the air element is not there, we might feel a sense of loneliness, separation or even isolation.

Ether – Intuition, Wisdom & Inspiration

Ether is the most mysterious of all the elements. It connects us to the unseen, to that power inside the feminine that is actually a bridge to the heavens. It brings shards of an invisible paradise into the world.

It is characterised by the woman who knows how to bring inspiration, guidance, even wisdom, because her heart knows. She is inspired, meaning she brings spirit into this creation through the ideas that come to her.

She doesn’t know why, but now she knows what to do. It’s the woman who has a connection to the spiritual power inside of her and who’s not afraid to bring that to others who need help and inspiration, and also to herself.

It’s the woman who would feel a certain kind of background state of peace and wholeness. She’s home, because she’s already found it. She’s connecting to her essence, which is always connected to the supreme reality.

So if a woman wants to know: “How can I be more feminine?”, it’s a wonderful opportunity to get in contact with all the different elements of nature. Like this, she can actually naturally awaken her femininity fully.
